A daylong ‘Peetha Utsab’ was organized in Bogura on Friday. Theater groups named ‘Liton Theater’, ‘Bhor Holo’ and ‘Bangladesh Gram Theater’ arranged the festival in collaboration with the District Administration, ‘Bogura Theater’ and ‘College Theater’. People from all walks of life including students of different educational institutions of Bogura participated in the ‘Peetha Utsab’.
Zila Parishad Chairman Dr. Mokbul Hossain inaugurated the 18th Peetha Utsab at the Romena Afaz ‘Mukta Mancha’ in Shaheed Titu Auditorium in the morning. Bogura Deputy Commissioner Fayez Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion. District Awami League unit’s General Secretary Ragebul Ahsan Ripu, former Press Club president Pradeep Bhattacharya Shankar, Taufiq Hasan Moina, President of the Shammilito Sanskritik Jote and GS Saeed Siddiqui were present among others at the time.
The festival was inaugurated by lighting the ‘Ayla’, a rural tradition. In villages, a fire is lit in the house for keeping it warm during winter that is called ‘Ayla’ 16 educational institutes including Bogra Govt. Mahila College, Government Girls High School along with famous Akbariya Grand Hotel set up stalls in this festival.
Different types of peetha like Chitai, Puli, Patti Sapta, Bhapa were being sold in this daylong festival. Bogra Press Club President Mozammel Haque distributed prizes among the winners of painting competition in the afternoon.
