Mina Hamid, a young woman from Mohammadpur, Dhaka, was arrested for stealing Tk 1.66 crore from her father's safe and giving it to her husband, Sakibul
Hasan, whom she had married by choice.
Police apprehended Mina and Sakibul four days after the theft was reported, recovering Tk 90 lakh of the stolen money.
The case unfolded when contractor Abdul Hamid reported over Tk 1.5 crore missing from his home. Subsequent investigation revealed Mina's involvement, leading to her arrest. sDuring questioning, Mina confessed to breaking into her father's chest to obtain the money for Sakibul Hasan, her husband.
Sakibul was later arrested, and the police recovered a significant portion of the stolen money from him.
Mohammadpur Police Station's Officer-in-Charge, Mahfuzul Haque Bhuiyan, confirmed that both Mina Hamid and Sakibul Hasan admitted their roles in the theft.
The investigation is ongoing, and the case will be submitted to court for further proceedings. Currently, both suspects are in custody.
