Darshana of Damurhuda upazila and Daulatgonj of Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga district have been published as separate land ports in Bangladesh Gazette by the concerned authorities of present government.
According to sources, the rout of Darshana Land Port is Darshana of Bangladesh and Gede of India on rail way and high way. The export and import goods items are domestic animals, fish fry, fruits, coal, stones etc.
On the other hand the rout of Daulatgonj land port is Daulatgonj of Bangladesh and Mazdia of India.
The export and import items are domestic animals, fruits, wheat, seeds, stones, coal, fertilizers, peas, onion etc.
It is to be mentioned that, Darshana land port started export and import on rail way through Darshana since 1962.
At present this activities are running.
On the other hand Daulatgonj land port started in 1953 and remained closed in 1965. Different types of goods were exported and imported through the land port.
Eakub Hossain Malik, president of Chuadanga Chambers of Commerce said, we expect, these land ports will start its activities very soon and many people will get different jobs in these land ports.
