‘Dance Arts Department Celebration’ at DU

Dhaka University Dance Arts Department has organized for the first time 'Dance Arts Department Celebration-2022' programme on Saturday at the Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium of the University. University Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the function by lighting a lamp from his presence as the chief guest.

The event was presided over by Divisional Chairperson Monira Parveen and was attended by eminent cultural personality and former Minister for Culture Asaduzzaman Noor MP as the guest of honor. In addition, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Dhaka. Abdul Bashir and dance charioteer and cultural personality Laila Hasan spoke as special guests on the occasion.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman paid deep homage to the memory of 3 million martyrs including Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 15th August 1975 and in the Great War of Liberation. He said that dance is one of the strongest elements needed to build a humane and creative society. This department was established at Dhaka University for the development of various forms of dance. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the teachers and students of the department to play their due role in establishing a developed society with humane values through the excellence of dance.

Pleasant dance was performed with the participation of teachers and students of the department. Assistant Professor of the Department Tamanna Rahman conducted the programme.
