Bangladesh registered 17 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday which is the lowest in four months. Earlier, on May 26 this year, the country recorded 17 deaths in a day.
The total number of deaths has reached 27,487 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 1,178 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 15,55,051, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.
The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.
The positivity rate has been below five percent for the seventh day in a row. Covid-19 situation is considered under control if the infection rate remains below five percent for two consecutive weeks.
The current positivity rate stands at 4.12 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.02 percent.
Among the 17 deceased, 10 were men, and seven were women. 12 of the deceased were from Dhaka, three from Chattogram and one each from Rajshahi and Khulna.
A total of 28,599 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday.
During this period 1,086 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 15,14,962 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.42 percent.
As of Wednesday 4,781,097 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 233,644,163 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
