Director of the Field Services Wing of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) at Khamarbari in Dhaka AKM Manirul Alam had advised the farmers to use available organic manure to boost their production although the process was time consuming.
He said the chemical farming have been damaging the quality of the soil and increasing the production cost very year when the government was providing subsidy in agriculture sectors. Manirul Alam said it while visiting a plum plot at Dudshar village of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah on Friday noon.
He said this during a visit to a plum plot owned by farmer Jamir Uddin. He said the government has been eying for increasing fruit gardening throughout the country to make the fruit farming profitable to strengthen the socio-economic state of the farmers as well as to reduce the dependency on imported fruits that costs higher for the country. As organic manure does not cost more and environment-friendly, the farmers should produce the same at their doorsteps and apply on their lands, Alam said.
DAE additional director in Jashore region Jahedul Amin, deputy director in Jhenaidah Asgar Ali, district training officer BK Halder, Shailkupa upazila agriculture officer Akram Hossain, Sadar upazila officer Jahedul Karim, Kaliganj upazila officer Shikder Mohaimen Akter and agriculture extension officer Abul Hasnat were present among others.
