Students from over a hundred colleges in Cumilla held a series of protests, including a human chain and a sit-in program, demanding the postponement of the HSC exam on Sunday. The protest started at 11:30 a.m. when hundreds of students gathered at the Cumilla Education Board office.
The students formed a human chain within the board premises, where the Controller of Examinations, Md. Asaduzzaman, was present. The students expressed their concerns over the HSC examination and submitted a memorandum requesting the suspension of exams in six subjects. Their main demand was for the Cumilla Education Board to delay these exams scheduled for September 11.
The protests continued into the afternoon, with students gathering at the public square in Kandirpar at 2:00 p.m. The students emphasized the need for the board to reconsider the exam schedule due to the challenges they are facing. They urged the authorities to take immediate action and provide a solution that would be fair for all students.
The students stressed that their request for postponement was essential to ensure better preparation for the exams. They called on the Cumilla Education Board to listen to their concerns and take a decision that would benefit the students.
The situation remains tense as the students await a response from the education board. The board chairman, Md. Nizamul Karim, has acknowledged the students' demands and is expected to make a decision soon. The students are hopeful that their voices will be heard and that the exams will be rescheduled.
