The Detective Branch (DB) of Police in Jhenaidah has arrested a gold smuggler of Cumilla with 640 grams of gold ornaments from Jhenaidah when he was marching towards Faridpur on a Dhaka bound bus. He was arrested on Thursday morning from Sadhuhati More on Jhenaidah-Chuadanga highway.
The arrestee was identified as Foysal Ahmed, son of Sahidullah of Hashimpur village in Chandina of Cumilla, said DB police inspector Anwar Hossain.
DB police OC Anwar Hossain said they were informed that a gold smuggler on a Faridpur bound passenger bus of Sathai Paribahan. They set a check post at Sadhihati and stopped the bus. They searched suspected Foysal Ahmed and seized the ornaments he was carrying on his body.
The DB police primarily assumed that the gold ornament was carrying to same to hand over to their gang in Dhaka. The police was preparing to file a case with Jhenaidah Sadar police station in this connection, DB OC said.
