Tehari, a tiny portion of heaven on your plate, epitomizes the deliciousness of Awadhi cuisine. And Tehari Avenue, as the name suggests specializes in Tehari preparations. It is a QSR concept which has started it’s two outlets across Dhaka. I had been to the Gulshan Branch outlet. Another outlet is located at Banani Road 11.
Tehari Avenue is a small kiosk. However, as we say that don’t judge the book by it’s cover, it would be unjust to judge the outlet by its size. They started off with serving quality culinary delights like Tehari, Beef Curry and Khichuri at affordable prices. The price ranges from 199 to 299 bucks depending on what you order. They even have Jali Kabab, Payesh and Borhani which is ranging from BDT 40 to BDT 60.
This place is very popular among university students and office goers. Since it is a student den, the foods are extremely light on the pockets. With its minimalistic and simple interior, the focus is placed entirely on the restaurant’s dedication towards its loyal customers and the foods it serves. The Meat Lovers Tehari (BDT 299) cooked in mustard oil is Tehari Avenue’s showstopper. It is a must-have for Tehari fanatics.
The aromatic rice, the beef, the green chilies, and the unique flavour of mustard oil make their Beef Tehari (BDT 199) one of the best dishes. The usage of mustard oil gives this dish the richness that is good enough to tempt even the fussiest palate.
Beef Curry with Polao & Boiled Egg (BDT 200) is packed with flavours. Once you try, there will be no turning back. I actually don’t need special occasions to savour this aromatic rice with beef curry.
Morog Polao (BDT 199) is another delight at Tehari Avenue known for its incredible taste. This mildly spiced one pot dish is an enticing complete meal on its own. I added Jali kabab with it. Jali Kabab (BDT 60) is one of the tastiest kabab among all. The outer texture of this Old Dhaka special kabab has that net effect by using a special technique. The juicy kebab tastes tantalizingly good. It’s simple but perfect.
Shorisha Khichuri with Beef (BDT 199) at Tehari Avenue is the ultimate comfort food for rainy days, or any day as a matter of fact! The aromatic flavourful rice cooked in mustard oil and served with fragrant tender beef is finger licking good.
Not only these, their add-ons include some lip smacking dishes like Chicken Roast (BDT 150), Borhani (BDT 40) and Payesh (BDT 50). Nevertheless, the proportion of the food is amazing.
This place is absolutely perfect in accordance with the price, proportion and the quality. So, for an exotic experience in traditional cuisines, you may visit Tehari Avenue. Try them once, and you will fall in love with their taste.
