Chattogram University (CU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shireen Akhtar said, UGC is giving us pain. In three and a half years, not a single person was allowed to be appointed. All our halls are open. Through UGC member Dr. Sajjad Hossain, I am informing UGC to provide our manpower.
CU Vice-Chancellor told it in her speech on the occasion of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 48th Martyrdom Anniversary organized by A F Rahman Hall of the University on Saturday (August 19). Professor Dr. Shireen Akhtar also said, we have opened Bangamata Hall with much trouble, we will open three more halls. Every hall of ours is suffering from the lack of manpower. We do not have the manpower to run the halls properly or run the departments. I am demanding today through Dr. Sajjad Hossain. Hope it will be resolved soon if he cooperates with us. He (Sajjad) can do whatever he wants.
Apart from this, Professor Dr. Sajjad Hossain, a member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), was present as the main discussant in the discussion meeting. He said, Bangabandhu is an asset. We will be an indomitable nation only if we possess that wealth. We are a good nation. We are not like Europe, we are not like America. We do not exploit people. Do not impose war on people. We don't sanction people, we don't create famine. We are a lucky nation. Where Bangabandhu was born, Bangabandhu was born in Bangladesh. It has to be believed, held. We have not invaded any country. Wherever Bangabandhu went, it seemed 'king of the king, leader of the leader.
As special guests, Professor Benu Kumar Dey, and Hall Acting Provost Associate Professor S M Moazzem Hossain were present. The event was conducted by the resident teacher Afzalur Rahman.
