CU law student wins ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Scholar Award’

Chittagong University's Law Department student, Mohima Akhtar, has achieved the esteemed 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Scholar Award-2023'.

On Thursday afternoon, Mohima Akhtar paid a courtesy visit to Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Md. Abu Taher upon receiving the award. The Dean of the Law Faculty, Professor Dr. Abdullah Al Faruq, was also present during the meeting.

Expressing his delight, the Vice-Chancellor remarked, "Our talented students are leveraging their abilities, intellect, and skills to attain remarkable success both nationally and 

internationally. It brings immense joy and pride to our university 

community."

He added, "We hope that this talented student will continue to dedicate herself to the welfare and progress of our nation in her future endeavours."

Mohima Akhtar, who graduated in the academic year 2017-18, secured the top position in the overall results of the 26th batch of law graduates at Chittagong University. She also achieved the 16th merit rank in the 16th Bangladesh Judicial Service Examination, qualifying her as an assistant judge. 

The 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Scholar Award-2023' was bestowed upon 21 exceptionally gifted students nationwide. Notably, Mohima Akhtar is the sole recipient selected from law departments across all universities in the country, marking a historic first for Chittagong University.

The award ceremony, held on June 24, 2024, saw these 21 outstanding students receiving certificates and a prize of Tk 3 lakh each from the Honourable Prime Minister.
