Chattogram University (CU) authorities awarded 50 freedom fighters in recognition of their contributions in the Bangladesh War of Liberation.
On Sunday, these freedom fighters were honored in a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of Independence Day at the Faculty of Sociology auditorium of the university.
CU Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey spoke as special guest on the occasion with Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Mamun in the chair. CU Proctor Dr. Mohammad Nurul Azim Sikdar delivered the welcome address.
CU syndicate member Mohammad Abul Manchur, Professor Dr. Danesh Mia, freedom fighter Jahangir Chowdhury and AH Jilani Chowdhury also spoke on the occasion.
CU Acting Registrar KM Noor Ahmad, Syndicate Member Professor Dr. Mohammad Khairul Islam and Assistant Proctor Arup Barua were present in the discussion meeting.
Speaking at the discussion, CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar said, “We have got independent Bangladesh with the contribution of freedom fighters who have been honored today. Last year also we honored 50 freedom fighters. This year we honored 50 more freedom fighters. We feel blessed to honor them. We hope that the trend of honoring the freedom fighters will continue in the future.”
