CU celebrates 58th university Day

“58th Chittagong University Day" was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the university campus through various programs.

On this occasion, CU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shireen Akhtar inaugurated the program by blowing balloons and festoons and flying a dove as a symbol of peace at Chittagong University central Shaheed Minar premises on Saturday morning.  After that, the joyous procession started with the music of the well-equipped band led by the CU VC and ended at the CU Bangabandhu Chattar.

At CU Bangabandhu Square, along with the university family and guests, they paid tribute by placing wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.  Later discussion meeting and cultural program was held at CU Faculty of Social Sciences Building Auditorium.

CU Vice-Chancellor Dr Shireen Akhtar spoke as the chief guest and CU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof. Benu Kumar Dey spoke as the special guest.  Dr. Md. Abdul Karim, President of CU Alumni Association, former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, presented the article on the occasion.  CU Registrar (Acting) KM Nur Ahmad presided over the function.  President of FBCCI and General Secretary of CU Alumni Association Mahbubul Alam and former professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering Professor Shamsul Wares spoke as the guests of welcome.  CU Proctor Dr. Mohammad Nurul Azim Sikder gave a welcome speech.

On the occasion, CU VC cut the cake of '58th Chittagong University Day' along with all the university family.

CU VC said, 58th Chittagong University Day is today.  This day of foundation anniversary is very happy and proud for the university.  Over a long period of time, this university has been continuously making outstanding contributions to knowledge and research in its own identity.  In the past days, many students have completed their education from this university and have occupied high positions in various government and private institutions in the country and abroad and are dedicated to the welfare of the nation.

She said, to ensure the bright presence of Chittagong University in the world and place it in the world ranking, teachers-researchers, students are invited to come forward to increase the reputation of this university by undertaking more knowledge-research.

CU Senate Member Prof. Dr. Mohammad Abdullah Mamun, Syndicate Member Mohammad Ali, Dean of CU Law Faculty Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al Farooq, Executive Member of CU Teachers Association Prof. Dr. Mohammad Faridul Alam, Provost Prof. CU Shahid Abdur Rab Hall spoke on the occasion among others.  Dr. Md. Danesh Mia, President of CU Law Faculty, Prof. Dr. Rakiba Nabi, President of CU Officers' Association Rashidul Haider Jabed, President of CU Employees' Association Md. Sumon and President of CU Employees' Union Mohammad Ali Hossain.  The program was hosted by CU students Partha Pratim Mahajan and Moon Chakma.  A minute's silence was observed at the ceremony to pay respect to the memory of all the respected teachers, staff and students of the Chittagong University family who died in the past one year.  The guests were felicitated and felicitated on the occasion and the CU VC awarded crests to the honoured guests and essay presenters.

The program started with the National Anthem.  Prema Avanti and her troupe performed the opening dance at the beginning of the program.  After the discussion, a delightful cultural program was held by the CU Music Department and campus cultural organizations.  On the occasion of the 58th Chittagong University Day, the CU campus was decorated with spectacular illuminations.

CU Senate and Syndicate Members, Faculty Deans, Teachers Association Leaders, Hall Provosts and Wardens and House Tutors, Department Chairs, Institute and Research Center Directors, Assistant Proctors, Teachers, Office Heads, Officers Association, Staff Association and Staff Union Leaders, CU were present on the occasion.  Members of Alumni Association, former and present students of the University, officers and employees, journalists of print and electronic media were present.
