All government, private and person-owned offices, institutions and public transport were declared closed for 10 days in the country as a precautionary measure to prevent the transmission of the corona virus. As a result, poor, low income, working class people have become unemployed. To help these distressed people, an initiative of distributing food items was taken by Chattogram District Police on Monday. The distribution of packets containing 5kg rice, 2kg flour, 1kg pulses, 1kg salt for 2,000 families are to be distributed through the officer in-charge of 16 police stations in the district.
Chattogram District Superintendent of Police SM Rashidul Haque directed the concerned Circle Officer and Officer in-Charge of various police stations to participate in the program and distribute the relief material to the poor and helpless families in the area. He said that this relief distribution activities by Chattogram District Police will continue till the corona situation is under control.
