Police have arrested Shah Jamal (55) from Chawkbazar area of Chittagong for embezzling crores of taka and accused in 19 cases. The arrested is Shah Jamal, son of Sheikh Ahmed of Safran Villa in Chandanpura under Chawkbazar police station.
He was arrested from Safran Villa at 8pm on Tuesday.
The matter has been confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station Md. Nezam Uddin.

He said that even though Shah Alam was arrested earlier, he was released on bail and embezzled crores of taka from various businessmen. He even revealed that he had fled abroad. Many believe he has one son in Australia and one in Canada. But he does not go abroad and stays in hiding in the country. To arrest him, the police raided various places in the guise of betel shop, tea shop and salesman of marketing company. Police raided in betel shop guise Chandanpura's house at 8 pm on Tuesday on the basis of secret information. He was arrested from inside the house at that time. OC Nezam said the accused was basically a fraud. He was arrested almost on the basis of an arrest warrant, but was released on bail and went into hiding again. He has been convicted in four cases of Chawkbazar police station. Besides, there are 19 arrest warrants in Kotwali and Chawkbazar police stations including arrest warrants in 3 cases.
