Chattogram Range DIG of police Khandaker Golam Faruk said, "If we follow the rules, then there is nothing to fear for the owners and workers of the new road transport laws.” He said this while addressing as the chief guest at an awareness rally, organised by Chattogram District Police at Halishahar in the district on Thursday.
The rally was organised with the owners, labor leaders and journalists for the effective implementation of the Road Transport Act-2018. The DIG said the new law went into effect from November 1. “However, till now we have not filed a case under the Act. This is because we are focusing on creating awareness. I am aware of the police, drivers and owners concerned with the implementation of the law. Because if awareness is not created, this law will be abused,” he said.
He further said that the main purpose of the meeting is to raise awareness among all of you. To be informed of new road transport laws. Encourage driving by complying with the law. All of you know the law, if you obey, discipline will come in the transport sector. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chattogram Nure Alam Mina presided over the function.
Inter-District Owners Association President Chowdhury Zafar Ahmed, Chittagong District Primover Association President Maine Uddin and General Secretary Abul Hashem, Chittagong District Truck Workers Association President Shafiqur Rahman, Bus Owners Association Md. Shah, Chittagong District Truck Workers Association President Manjurul Alam Manju, Port Truck Owners Association President Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury, Chittagong Inter-District Bus Owners Association President Kafil Uddin, Road Transport Workers Federation Chittagong and Sylhet Division President Mrinal Chowdhury and General Secretary of Bangladesh Truck Owners Association Abu Mozaffar and Chittagong Press Club General Secretary Chowdhury Farid were also present at the meeting.
