Mayor of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin has said that Bangladesh has a glorious tradition of harmony with all religions irrespective of caste or creed. People of all communities will have to come forward to maintain this tradition of Bengali, he said.
The CCC Mayor said these while inaugurating the five-day Shardiya Durga Puja by Chittagong City Corporation Puja Udjapan Parishad in the port city on Friday.
He inaugurated the festival through burning of Mangalpardip at Jamal khan Kusum Kumari City Corporation Girls' High School premises in port the city.
Anindya Banerjee, Indian Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram, attended the event as the chief guest. AJM Nasir Uddin said, “Shardiya Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival of Hindu community in Bengal. People of all communities of Bangladesh have been living with harmony and harmony for long. We have to continue this in future.”
