Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) election will be held on October 26. An Executive Meeting (EC) was held at BFF on the occasion of the upcoming elections on Friday. In that meeting the names of representatives of 133 organizations were approved as councilors.
Councillorship has been discussed and criticized for the past few weeks. There were many arguments in the EC meeting on the day. At one stage of the councillorship discussion, the issue of Chittagong Abahani not playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football age-based league came up. There is a provision of Tk 20 lakh fine for not playing in the BPL age-based tournament. Discussions also arose that the councillorship would not be sanctioned if the fine was not collected.
BFF also owes the clubs again. During the meeting Sarfraz, Chief Finance Officer of BFF, gave the information that Chittagong Abahani owes taka seven and a half lakhs to the federation.
If there is a penalty of taka 20 lakhs, the remaining taka two and a half lakh takas are also discussed to be given a letter to be paid quickly.
Later, however, it was decided to adjust the upcoming season without giving a letter.
Gopalganj Sporting Club did not participate in the last day of the BPL. After a year, the disciplinary committee fined Gopalganj only taka five lakh.
Farashganj in the championship league, Nofel Sporting did not participate in the age-based league. There was no discussion in the meeting about their fine and removal of councillorship.
The tenure of the current committee of BFF is till October 26. League committee chairman Imrul Hasan spoke about the initiative to take disciplinary action against the clubs that do not play in the junior league of the championship league. Two months have passed since that comment, but no disciplinary action has been taken by BFF disciplinary committee. And that is not likely. Because the chairman of the disciplinary committee Mejbah Uddin is now busy as the chief election commissioner!
133 councilors approved at yesterday's BUFFE meeting. However, questions have been raised about the list of councilors. Women's sports councilors have been discussed several times. Women's Sports Association Acting General Manager Feroza Karim Naili sent her name without meeting. Against this, the meeting gave another name to the Women's Sports Association. That letter, however, was not received by the BFF Secretariat.
The organizers of the women's sports organization claimed that they had given it on time and the BFF secretariat's demand was after a certain time.
BFF has approved the name of Shamsul Haque Chowdhury, a former Member of Parliament and a former member of BFF, as the councilor of the Chittagong Divisional Football Association. The president of Mymensingh Divisional Football Association, Abdullah Al Fuad Redwan, has strongly objected to this, the councilor of Chittagong Divisional Football Association is absconding. How he became a counselor and how BFF approved it. There are questions about many more councilors like this.
