Sweet shops across Dhaka have become bustling hubs of activity following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
The capital's residents have flocked to these shops to purchase and distribute sweets, celebrating the political upheaval with a sugary twist.
The scene at Muslim Sweets in Paltan was particularly lively, with locals buying large quantities of sweets to share with others. Shop manager Tariqul Islam reported that customers began arriving in droves starting at 3 pm, purchasing between 5 kg to 35 kg of sweets each.
Many individuals were spotted distributing the sweets in front of the shop, adding to the festive atmosphere. The unusual celebration underscores the deep political impact of Hasina's departure and the public’s reaction to the significant political shift in the country.
