Within the Pabna Irrigation and Rural Development Project, thousands of bighas of arable and cropland are covered with water hyacinth. The farmers of the fence are in trouble with cultivation due to the lack of water all over the field.
On Wednesday, after visiting the ground and talking to the farmers of different areas, it is known that under the Pabna Irrigation and Rural Development Project, water hyacinth is growing at a large rate in several thousand bigha of crop and arable land in Haturia, Barashila, Nalbhanga, Kaitola, Jayanagar, Tarapur, Harirampur, Panchuria Mouja and other areas of the project. Due to the loss of sown Aman paddy, the farmers are suffering from uncertainty about the cultivation of vegetable crops including mustard, wheat and onion in the upcoming rabi season.
Former chairman of Haturia village Noor Mohammad Chand Pramanik, ex-UP member Moksed Ali, Shahidul Pramanik, farmer Fajr Ali of Nalbhanga village, Moksed Ali of Panchuria village, Fazlal, Shahjahan Ali of Nalapur village, Ayub Ali, Bahut Ali of Kaitola village, ex-UP member Khadem of Harirampur village. Many people including Molla, Yashin Molla said that water hyacinth is grown in more and more lands every year but this year the water hyacinth is comparatively more and bigger and it has become very difficult to cultivate it. Farmers say that most of the land is covered with kachuri leaves. Now the farmers of the mentioned area are confused about how to remove this water hyacinth and cultivate it. The farmers of these areas feel that because the water level of the Yamuna river is lower than the water level inside the project at present, if all the gates of the sluice gates of the Yamuna river connection Kaitla pumping station of the drainage canal of the project can be opened, then it will be possible to remove the kachuri leaves from the land.

After discussion with the farmers and public representatives of the area, necessary measures will be taken to remove the kachuri leaves from the land within a few days by opening all the gates of the sluice gate of Kaitla pumping station and taking out the kachuri leaves.
In this regard, Bara Upazila Agriculture Officer Nusrat Kabir Mutho said on the phone, Kaitola UP chairman and locals have informed about drinking kachuri. UNO sir and we have discussed the matter. It has been decided to open all the gates of the Kaitola sluice gate simultaneously and take the necessary measures to remove the kachuri leaves from the land within a few days.
