Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs AFM Khalid Hossain said the current government does not harbor political vengeance against anyone. Those who are real criminals, who have murdered people and looted the country's money, will be brought to justice. The nation expects this from the government.
He said those who murdered and injured our brothers in July and August will be brought under the law, and this government will ensure their proper trial. Many criminals have already been arrested, and cases have been filed.
He further added that no one is above the law and that the current government wants to establish true rule of law in the country. To achieve this, the government is working on reforms.
The Adviser came up with the assertion during a press briefing on Saturday while visiting martyr Wasim Akram and martyr Ahsan Habib’s family who were killed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
During the press briefing, he said the nation will always remember the martyrs, including Wasim, of the July-August revolution. The current government will establish a July Revolution Foundation. Through this foundation, the families of the martyrs and the injured will receive lifelong assistance. It will also be ensured that the future governments continue this initiative.
He said that the current government will provide Tk 30 lakh to each family of the martyrs who died in the July-August revolution.
In the morning, he handed over a check for Tk 200,000 as financial assistance from the As Sunnah Foundation to the family members of martyr Ahsan Habib from Chakaria Upazila. After meeting with the family of martyr Wasim Akram in Pekua in the afternoon, he handed over a check for 200,000 Taka to the father of Shaheed Wasim Akram, Shafiul Alam. During that time, he spoke with the family members and inquired about their overall well-being.
Later, he visited the grave of Wasim Akram and Ahsan Habib.
