Publicity, press briefing and seminar on “Skills and Awareness for Overseas Employment” held at Upazila level in Faridpur. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar was present as the chief guest at the seminar organized by Faridpur Sadar Upazila Administration on Thursday under the chairmanship of Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Masum Raza at the Upazila Parishad hall.
Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parishad A Razzak Mollah, Principal of Government Rajendra College Prof Mosharraf Ali, Vice Chairman of Sadar Upazila Farida Yasmin were present as special guests on the occasion. At the beginning of the program, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Masum Reza spoke to create public awareness to ensure safe, orderly, regular and responsible migration.
It was informed at the seminar that Bangladesh has started sending manpower abroad since 1976. At present, more than 12 million Bangladeshi workers are engaged in various activities in 173 countries. They send an average of more than 16 billion in remittances to the country annually, which is playing an important role in the country's economic development. Besides, at present about 7 lakh migrants are employed abroad every year through the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare.
The chief guest said in his speech that the youth or young women of the country wanted by the government will be entrepreneurs themselves and they will arrange jobs for others who want to go abroad can apply for visa online from home. Then their going abroad will be legal. And the government has various measures for legal expatriates. Education scholarships are available in the country for the children of legal expatriates.
Everyone's cooperation is sought in the seminar to ensure that anyone can go abroad without being deceived and ensure safe migration, welfare of expatriate workers.
