CPJ BRACU participates in Sampreeti Utshab

The Centre for Peace and Justice (CPJ) of BRAC University participated in the two-day long Sampreeti Utshab (harmony festival) held in Dhaka on 25-26 July. Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) organised the festival marking its year-long “SAMPREETI” project at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) with an aim to engage youths for promoting peace and preventing violent extremism.

CPJ participated in this festival and showcased its various activities materials at the festival. Recently, CPJ has trained 320 young female students and facilitated the establishment of two Women Peace Cafés at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh under Empowered Women, Peaceful Communites Project. CPJ undertakes a wide range of research, training and advocacy related initiatives to promote peace, justice and social cohesion in the society.

State Minister of Youth and Sports, Zahid Ahsan Russel was present in the programme as the chief guest while deputy director of MJF, Shaheen Anam was in the chair.

On the second day of the festival, President of the parliamentary permanent committee on the ministry of home affairs Shamsul Hoque Tuku, MP, Professor of Dhaka University, Kazi Maruful Islam and Chief Executive Officer of Ekushey Television, Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul was present as special guest.

Different 45 stalls from around 40 institutions including various universities, development agencies and the media participated in the festival.
