CPC Yunnan Province Secretary meets DU VC

An Eight-member Chinese team led by HE Chen Hao, secretary of Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of People’s Congress of Yunnan Province called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman on Saturday at latter’s residence office of the university.

Other members of the team are Chinese Ambassador in Bangladesh Li Jiming, Deputy Secretary General of People’s Government of Yunnan Province Yang Hongbo, DG of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province Mme Pu Hong, DG of the Department of Commerce of Yunnan Province Yu Shukun, Secretary of CPC Yunnan University committee Lin Wenxun, President of China Development Bank Hong Zhenghua and Cultural Counselor of China to Bangladesh Sun Yan. DU Registrar Md Enamuzzaman, Director of DU Institute of Modern Languages Professor Dr Shishir Bhattacharja, Director of DU Confucius Institute Professor Dr Zhou Mingdong and Director of DU Public Relations Mahmood Alam were present on this occasion.

During the meeting they discussed matters of mutual interest. Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman apprised HE Chen Hao of brief history of DU and its ongoing-collaborative programmes with different universities specially Yunnan University in China. He said Bangladesh and China have been enjoying a friendly relation for a long time. China is a major development partner of Bangladesh, DU VC pointed out.

HE Chen Hao expressed his willingness to strengthen joint collaboration, cooperation and work together with Bangladesh on various fields including education, culture, trade, business and agriculture. He laid emphasis on further strengthening ongoing joint collaboration of different Chinese universities especially Yunnan University with Dhaka University.

DU VC Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked HE Chen Hao and other members of the team for their visit to and keen interest to work together with DU.
