The journalists recommended the formulation, amendment and implementation of the necessary legal framework to ensure the freedom of the press. The parliamentarians who participated in the event assured to take initiatives in this regard in the journalist camp with the participation of journalist representatives from all over the country. Media editors and leaders of journalists' organizations said that emphasis should be placed on determining the necessary qualifications and skills development for journalists to ensure fair and ethical journalism.
This three-day camp was organized by BRAC CDM of Savar from 29th to 31st July, organized by media development organization 'Samsti'. Journalists formulated the Dhaka Declaration with various recommendations on press freedom. The event ended with the presentation of this declaration in front of the legislators and leaders of journalists' organizations.
