Cox’s Bazar DB police nab 2 drug peddlers with Yaba

During the smuggling, the district detective police (DB) arrested two people from Ramu in Cox's Bazar along with 150,000 pieces of yaba. One of the detainees is a Rohingya. The estimated market value of 1.5 lakh yaba recovered at that time is more than Tk 4 crore, DB police officials said.

On Monday (May 24) at noon, detectives arrested two traders, including Yaba, while they were smuggling easybikes using the Ramu-Marichya road in Cox's Bazar.

The detainees were identified as Abul Hashem, 23, son of Rashid Ahmed of Walapalang area of Ukhia upazila and his accomplice Mohammad Alam, 20, son of Abu Siddique, a resident of Block A of Camp No. 6 of Kutupalong Rohingya camp.

Sheikh Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the District Detective Branch (DB), said a DB team went on the operation on the news that a large consignment of yaba could be smuggled by an easybike on the Ramu-Marichya road. At that time, two people were arrested along with 150,000 yaba wrapped in an easybike.

Meanwhile, at noon briefing, Superintendent of Police. Hasanuzzaman PPM said drug traffickers were using different methods as police operations began. We have also started a strong campaign. In no way will drug traffickers be given a chance to grow their heads. Cox's Bazar district police is working to sort out the names of Cox's Bazar's elder brothers.

Drug dealers and their godfathers will not be exempted in any way, the Superintendent of Police warned.
