The situation of Coronavirus infection in Rajshahi including that of Rajshahi city areas has worsened further with 18 more deaths of Corona patients at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and the detection of Coronavirus among 129 patients by testing samples of 380 persons in two labs of RMCH during the last 24-hour (8-00 am Wednesday to 8-00 am on Thursday).
Director of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Brig Gen Shamim Yazdani informed that the number of deaths was the highest ever so far at the Corona unit of the hospital. Among the dead 10 are males and eight are females and 13 of them are from Rajshahi, four from Naogaon and one from Chapai Nawabganj district.
Of them four died at the ICU of the hospital.
With the deaths a total of 260 patients died at the Corona unit of the hospital during this month (June-1 to June-24). Of them 121 are from Rajshahi and 93 are from Chapainawabganj.
Meanwhile, RMCH sources informed that a total of 54 patients have been admitted to the Corona unit of the hospital during the last 24-hour period. Of them 33 are from Rajshahi, 10 are from Chapainwabganj, four from Natore, six from Naogaon and one from Pabna.
Till 6-00 am on Thursday, a total of 404 Covid patients were taking treatment at the Corona unit of the hospital as against 357 regular beds. Treatment for excess patients was being given by arranging beds on the floor and corridors of the unit. Of the total admitted patients at Corona unit 272 are of Rajshahi, 59 are of Chapainwabganj, 26 are from Natore, 32 are from Naogaon, 1o from Pabna, three from Kushtia, one each from Dhaka and Chuadanga. 18 of the patients are getting treatment at the ICU.
Meanwhile, after continuous recession for the last four days, the identification of Coronavirus patients has increased to 129 in Rajshahi after testing samples of 380 patients in two laboratories of RMCH. The rate of identification of Corona patients in Rajshahi was 33.95 percent on Wednesday as against 33.05 percent on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, after testing samples of 654 persons in the Rajshahi division, 188 tested Corona positive during the last 24-hour period. It is learnt, due to an increase of infection and death in Coronavirus, a seven-day lockdown was enforced in Rajshahi city from June-11 but the period of lockdown was further increased for next seven-day which was supposed to end on June-24 midnight.
As the Coronavirus infection did not decrease during this period, the lockdown period was further increased till 12-00 am on June 30, informed Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Abdul Jalil in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.
