The daily Covid-19 positivity rate jumped to 11.05 percent in Rangpur division where 19 fresh cases were reported after testing 172 new samples on Saturday.
Health officials said the coronavirus situation continues improving amid declining positivity rate in the division where the daily positivity rate remained below the five percent mark almost during the last one month
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 0.38 percent on Thursday, 1.97 percent on Wednesday, 2.56 percent on Tuesday, 2.72 percent on Monday, 2.42 percent on Sunday and 3.29 percent on Saturday last in the division.
Among the seven new patients, 13 were reported positive after diagnosing 78 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur at the daily positivity rate of 16.67 percent on Friday.
“The 13 new patients include 10 from Rangpur and one each from Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat and Thakurgaon districts”, Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzusaid. On the other hand, six new patients were reported after diagnosing 94 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 6.38 percent on Saturday.
“The six new Covid-19 infected patients include five from Dinajpur and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 55,260 as 19 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of total 55,260 patients include 12,457 of Rangpur, 3,800 Panchagarh, 4,438 of Nilphamari, 2,738 of Lalmonirhat, 4,636 of Kurigram, 7,605 of Thakurgaon, 14,728 of Dinajpur and 4,858 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
