The overall coronavirus situation improves further in the country as the infection rate remains below 5 per cent. The current positivity rate stands at 4.54 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.18 percent.
Bangladesh registered 31 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths has reached 27,368 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 1,233 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,549,553, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
The death rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the country, added the release.
Among the 24 deceased, 18 were men, and 13 were women. 16 of the deceased were from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, two each from Rajshahi and Khulna and one each from Khulna, Sylhet and Mymensingh.
A total of 27,141 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.
During this period 1,413 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,509,202 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.40 percent.
As of Friday 4,744,630 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 231,498,993 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
