New restrictions imposed by the government due to the increase in infection rate in the country and the risk of the spread of the new coronavirus variant Omicron is being effective from today (Thursday).
A notification was issued in this regard by the Cabinet Division on Monday.
The decision was taken in a meeting to review the spread of the new type of coronavirus and the increasing daily infections in the country. The following restrictions will be imposed from today.
• Wearing masks mandatory in all public places including shops, shopping malls and markets, hotels and restaurants, legal action otherwise.
• Masks must be worn outside offices and court. Mobile courts would be active across the country to monitor the compliance of the hygiene rules within the members of the public.
• Vaccine Certificate must in order to sit in a restaurant or stay at a residential hotel.
• No student above 12 years of age will be allowed to enter institutions without vaccine certificate after the date fixed by the Ministry of Education.
• The number of screenings would be increased in land ports, seaports and airports. Land ports will allow only drivers along with trucks coming from outside the country. Visitors accompanying foreigners must not enter the airport.
• Trains, buses and launches can carry half the capacity of passengers. The authorities concerned will issue specific instructions in this regard along with the date of implementation. Drivers and assistants of all types of vehicles must carry vaccine certificate.
• Compulsory Covid-19 Ticker Certificates and Rapid Antigen Testing for all passengers, including the ones arriving from abroad.
• Imams will warn and make sure people comply with hygiene rules and wear masks during prayer in all the mosques of the country. Deputy Commissioners and Upazila Nirbahi Officers will confirm this matter.
• The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will take necessary initiatives to provide Covid-19 vaccination and booster doses. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will assist in this regard.
• All social, political and religious ceremonies or gatherings in open spaces should be closed until further notice due to increasing Covid-19 infection.
• In case of any special situation in any area, the local administration will be able to take action in consultation with the concerned.
