Covid-19 cases in the country have increased by 115 percent in last one week compared to the previous week.
DGHS Director and spokesperson Prof Nazmul Islam unveiled the information on Sunday during the regular health bulletin.
He said that a total of 6,300 people were infected with Covid-19 last week which is 3,376 more than the previous week.
Bangladesh registered three more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Sunday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,102 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 1,491 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,593,700, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
The current positivity rate stands 6.78 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 13.65 percent.
In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.
Among the three deceased, two were females and one was male. Of them, two were from Dhaka and one was from Chattogram division.
A total of 21,980 samples were tested across the country till 8am Sunday.
Some 217 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,550,905 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 97.31 percent.
As of Sunday, 5,503,750 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 306,184,491 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
