Courtyard meeting in Jhenaidah to stop child marriage, dowry

A courtyard meeting was held in rural village in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila to create social awareness to prevent child marriage and dowry on Wednesday morning.

Organized by Jhenaidah upazila administration and information centre, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sadiya Jarin presided over the meeting at Lohajanga village. Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Rafiqul Islam attended the meeting as chief guest.

Assistant commissioner of land in Jhenaidah Sadar Sharmin Akter Sumi, upazila parishad woman vice chairman Arati Dutt and Padmakar union parishad chairman Bikash Kumar Biswas attended as speci0al guests. Later the deputy commissioner transplanted a sapling at the union parishad premises. 

DC SM Rafiqul Islam in his speech as chief guest said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working to build a joust society free from child marriage, divorce, dowry and other social irregularities so that the women community could play equal role like their male counterpart. Each and every steps were taken for women development so that they might play role in making Smart Bangladesh, deputy commissioner said.
