Both husband and wife was killed and two others including their child sustained injury when a locally assembled engine driven van was hit by a fish laden pickup van in-front of Mobarakganj sugar mills on Jhenaidah-Jashore highway on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was Sabder Ali and his wife Parvina Begum of village Bishoykhali under Jhenaidah Sadar upapzpila. Injured three including the daughter of the ill-fated couple was rushed at Kaliganj upapzila health complex (UHC).
Kaliganj police station sub inspector Iqbal Kabir said Sabder Ali and Parvina Begum on a van was marching Jashore to treat their girlchild. When they arrived near Mobarakganj sugar mills, a fish laden pick up van hit them from the back leaving them injured.
They were rushed to local UHC and the attending physician referred Sabder Ali to Jashore 250 bed hospital, while he succumbs to his injuries on the way to hospital. Sathi Khatun, of the deceased and van-puller Abdul Karim were referred to Jhenaidah general hospital for treatment.
Bodies of the couple were sent to Jhenaidah general hospital for post mortem examination. No case was filed with the police till Tuesday noon, the police man said.
