A couple committed suicide on Monday at Singra of Natore over family feud. The deceased were identified as Ujjal Hossain, 42, and his first wife Joly Khatun, 35, of village Putimari of the upazila.
Locals said the family feud began since Ujjal married for second time a year ago and brought second wife Lipi Khatun home.
On Monday night, an altercation occurred among them. At one stage, Ujjal and Joly overdosed with gastric tablets, leaving them severely ill.
Neighbours rushed them to the local hospital but both died on the way. Police recovered bodies and sent those to the morgue for autopsy, said Nur-e-Alam Siddiqui, officer-in-charge of Singra police station.
