Faridpur district administration admitted two persons named Mizanur Rahman, 46, and his wife Rosina Begum, 37, to the Isolation ward of Faridpur Medical College Hospital on suspicion of coronavirus infection on Tuesday night.
They are residents of Gopaldi village of Raipur union of Madhukhali upazila of the district. The local administration has locked down ten houses at the village.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Madhukhali Md Mostafa Monowar confirmed the matter. He said said Mizanur Rahman used to drive an Easy bike in Faridpur town. He came home on March 26 while he caught a cold. Then, on Tuesday night, when he experienced severe shortness of breath, he informed the administration himself.
Later, the upazila administration, health department and police administration took them to the Isolation ward of Faridpur Medical College Hospital by ambulance. Both are currently under treatment. Upazila administration has locked down ten houses in the area, he added.Meanwhile, when contacted Mizanur Rahman over phone, he said, “My breathing trouble started from Tuesday afternoon. Soon I went to a field in our village and sat there. After the matter was reported to the local chairman, he immediately arranged for me to be taken to the isolation of Faridpur Medical College Hospital for treatment. Now I'm feeling a lot better”.
He said that on Tuesday afternoon, he drank a lot of hot water, which might have caused it. Faridpur Civil Surgeon Md. Siddikur Rahman said Mizanur Rahman and his wife were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. At the end of their examination, it will be announced whether he and his wife were infected with corona virus.
Meanwhile, locals thanked the district administration for making arrangements for admission of those two to Faridpur Medical College Hospital immediately after receiving the news.
