Chief of the Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said the situation in the country has returned to normal.
The traffic was now functioning as usual and the situation had been swiftly brought under control, he said.
The comments were made on Wednesday following his visit to the army camp at Shahid Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Sherpur.
The Army Chief noted that while there were some isolated incidents, the main issue was concentrated in Dhaka. He confirmed that the situation had been quickly managed.
He also said the presence of the army personnel might be needed for a few more days.
General Waker-Uz-Zaman further highlighted that the Bangladesh Army had effectively controlled the situation within a short period.
He observed normal traffic and public movement during his travel from Dhaka to Sherpur.
He inspected the activities of the army personnel in Sherpur and Narsingdi districts, and also visited the damaged Narsingdi District Jail.
Local administration officials, senior law enforcement officers, and reporters from different media were present during his visit.
