The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has recorded the highest 197mm of rainfall in the country's northern district of Dinjapur.
The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6:00am on Friday was recorded 197 millimeters (mm) at Dinajpur.
Officer-in-Charge of the regional met office of Dinajpur district Md Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter in a weather forecast on Friday. However, the second highest rainfall during this time was recorded in Syedpur Upazila in Nilphamari district. 183mm of rainfall was recorded there. Moreover, the met office also forecast storm with gusty wind from 45 to 60 kilometer speed per hour in eight districts of the country. It was said in a weather forecast from 9pm Thursday to 6am Friday for the river ports of the country.
The weather forecast said it may rain with gusty wind of a speed of 45 to 60 kilometer per hour in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh and Sylhet regions. The river ports of these areas were asked to hoist cautionary signal no. 1.
In another forecast, it was said that it may rain accompanied by thunderstorm in most of the areas of Rangpur and Dinajpur, and in some areas of Barishal and Chattogram till 6:00pm on Friday. Moreover, moderately heavy to heavy rainfall is predicted in some areas Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
