Adviser to the Ministry of Religious Affairs AFM Khalid Hossain said that traditionally Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony. Coexistence of different ethnic groups is the characteristic of this country. In the constitution, every citizen of the country has equal rights in all fields including religion, business, politics and education.

“Some vested groups are trying to destroy the harmony and cordial relations existing among the various communities of the country. The government is on alert to counter them. Development is not possible if there is no communal harmony in the country”, he said this at a discussion titled 'Establishment of communal harmony and solving social problems by Ulama Mashaikhs ' in the conference room of Khulna divisional office of Islamic Foundation on Saturday.

The adviser said that the country's foreign exchange reserves have increased after the interim government assumed power. The economy is strengthening and remittance flows are increasing.

We want to bring back the momentum of the Islamic Foundation which has slowed down. The four departments of the foundation once published many research books including encyclopedias-translations, which are now closed. This institution should be brought back to life.

He further said that through the renovation of the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram will be enhanced to become a beautiful and religiously solemn iconic mosque. Irregularities of mosque-based public education will be investigated and action will be taken. Action will be taken according to law if there are any construction defects or irregularities in the model mosque.

The religious adviser said that the cost of various Hajj packages has decreased this year. Under the government management, the reasons for the decrease in the number of Hajj pilgrims will be found out and solved. In the future, there is an opportunity to go to Hajj by sea.

Six of the 11 model mosques in Khulna district have been inaugurated, four are under construction and one is awaiting inauguration. The 40 model mosques awaiting inauguration across the country will be inaugurated online through the Principal Adviser.
