Country remains stable if Sheikh Hasina’s government stays in power

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said that the country remains stable if Sheikh Hasina’s government stays in power.

“Sheikh Hasina’s government is needed in future also for a stable country. The people of the country will benefit if Sheikh Hasina as well as Awami League remains in the government. We want to build ‘Sonar Bangla’ of Bangabandhu as a developed country,” he said.

Talking to the media in Sylhet on Tuesday, Dr AK Abdul Momen also said, “I am grateful to the people of Sylhet. I got the ruling Awami League’s ticket as well as the electoral symbol ‘Boat’ again due to the trust, faith and love of the people of Sylhet. I hope to win the upcoming parliamentary elections and speed up the ongoing development in Sylhet.”

He called upon all to vote for ‘boat’ in the upcoming elections in order to continue the development activities across the country.

Dr AK Abdul Momen talked to the media after visiting the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) and Hazrat Shah Paran (RA) in Sylhet just a couple of days before beginning of the electoral campaign for the 12th national polls slated for January 7.

The minister performed ziarat and offered prayers at the shrines. He also visited graves of his parents and offered prayers, says a press release sent by Khaleda Jasmin Mithela, APS to the Foreign Minister.

Earlier, leaders and activists of ruling Awami League greeted the Foreign Minister with floral wreaths upon his arrival at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at about 2:00 pm.

A huge number of leaders and activists of the ruling party were present there. Among them, president of Sylhet district unit of Awami League Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury, the unit’s general secretary and chairman of Sylhet Zila Parishad Advocate Nasir Uddin Khan, the party’s vice president and Sylhet Sadar upazila chairman Ashfak Ahmed, mayor of Sylhet City Corporation Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, general secretary of Sylhet city Awami League Jakir Hossain, AL leaders Azadur Rahman Azad and Bidhan Kumar Saha, president of Sylhet Juba League VP Shameem, general secretary Shamim Ahmed, Sylhet city Juba League president Alam Khan Mukti, general secretary Mushfik Jaigirder, and general secretary of Sylhet district Mohila Awami League Helen Ahmed.
