Councilor delivers food items to expatriates’ houses at night

Rezaul Karim, councilor of Ward No 2 of Chakaria Municipality in Cox’s Bazar, has been delivering food items to the homes of expatriates at night in this month of Ramadan. He said that these food items are being provided from the gift of the Prime Minister and by his own finance. 

Councilor Rezaul himself is arriving at the houses of the expatriate’s at night carrying rice, pulses, oil, onion, soap, flour and various vegetables. This initiative of his has caught the attention of many.

Councilor Rezaul Karim said, “There are many expatriates in my area. Due to the corona crisis they are unable to send money to their family. They called me from there and asked me to take care of their family. Many of them even cried telling me about their sufferings”.

He said he made this decision after hearing about these people's sufferings. He said when he took the food items to their houses at night, many of them became overwhelmed with emotions.

The councilor also informed that he does not take any pictures of the people he helps as he believe it would hurt their self respect.
