The testing of samples from the suspected Coronavirus (Covid-19) patients starts at Shahid Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital from April 18 (Saturday).
Already the PCR (polymer Chain Reaction) machine to determine the virus has been installed at the hospital, informed, Professor Dr. Rezaul Alam Zewel, Principal of SZRMCH and now the Technicians to operate the machine are being trained.
Principal Dr. Jewel further informed, from the first week of April, a room was prepared at the department of Microbiology of the college to set up the PCR machine and on April-8, PCR machine reached at the hospital and it was installed within a very short span of time. Now, training of the technicians is continuing and he hoped, the testing activities for detection of Covid-19 virus will be started from Saturday next.
