Police separately raided at different places in the last two days and arrested two drug peddlers along with eight hundred sixty four bottles of contraband phensidyl syrup in the district.
Fatulla police on July 18 in a raid at Kayempur area arrested a drug peddler Monir Hossain, 23 and recovered six hundred eighty five bottles of phensidyl syrup. Police also seized a pickup van that used to carry the narcotics from Cumilla to Narayanganj.
Kanchpur highway police in a drive on July 19 at Modonpur bus stand on Dhaka-Chattogram highway recovered one sixty bottles of contraband phensidyl syrup and seized a private car while three drug peddlers in disguise of passengers fled left behind the car.
Fatulla model police in another raid on July 19, arrested a drug vendor named Saiful, 32, with nineteen bottles of phensidyl from West Deobhog area.
Both the officer in charge Sheikh Rezaul Haq Dipu of Fatulla model police station and Nobir Hossain of Kanchpur highway police station asserted that the investigation are in full swing following recorded separate criminal cases under section of narcotics control act.
