In a bid to save our climate from carbon emissions, the use of renewable energy sources is a must. In that continuity, negotiators at the United Nations climate talks are considering a draft decision that highlights “alarm and concern” about global warming the planet already is experiencing and continues to call on the world to cut about half of its emissions of heat-trapping gases by 2030.
The draft mentions the need to cut emissions by 45 per cent by 2030 from 2010 levels and achieve “net-zero” by mid-century. Doing so requires countries to pump only as much greenhouse gas into the atmosphere as can be absorbed again through natural or artificial means.

It urges countries to “accelerate the phasing out of coal and subsidies for fossil fuels,” but makes no explicit reference to ending the use of oil and gas.
Governments can also focus on originating more research and development programmes. This should be done to explore more sustainable sources of power generation and instead of using oil we can extract cheap gas-based solutions for electricity production, which will further decrease the cost of production and increase profit.
If private investment increases, then healthy competition should also be raised among the power generators which will lead to economic welfare and also improvement in the quality of service. We recommend our government to approve a various range of energy efficiency programmes for the future of the country’s energy security.
Therefore, it is time now that the concerned authorities implement the transition process of shifting to renewable energy sources from coal-based power plants, which will not only profit our environment but also will create numerous jobs, especially in the rural areas.
