A policeman was seriously injured after he was stabbed by an accused in Narayanganj. The victim policeman named Kamruzzaman, 30, is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter on Tuesday (October 22).
The incident took place in front of the Victoria Jame Masjid located at Gymkhana intersection in Narayanganj city on Monday night.
The injured policeman Kamruzzaman is working at Madanganj police outpost of Bandar upazila of Narayanganj district.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Shihab said that policeman Kamruzzaman went to the spot to arrest the accused in a case. At that time accused Babu, 22, hit his right wrist with a knife and ran away.
Later, fellow policemen rescued Kamrazzaman in critical condition and took him to a local hospital where he was given first aid. From there, he was transferred to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital and later he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Later, he was admitted to the Heart Institute for treatment from there.
