A police officer was killed and another police officer was injured in a road accident in front of Nasipur High School on Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as M Momtaj, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Dinajpur Pulhat Police Outpost.
Dinajpur Sadar Circle Additional Police Superintendent Zinnah Al Mamun confirmed the matter to the media.
Zinnah Al Mamun said the deceased and injured police officials were performing their duty at Dinajpur Pulhat Police Outpost. The accident took place while they were going to Dashmaile area riding a motorcycle for investigating of a case.
A truck knocked down their motorcycle in the area, leaving ASI M Momtaj dead on the spot and another ASI A Jalil injured critically.
On information, locals and police personnel rushed to the spot and took the injured police officer to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital. ASI A Jalil’s hand was broken in the accident, Zinnah Al Mamun added.
Police were trying to nab the truck driver and seize the truck.
