Cooperation meeting between DIU and Finnish counterpart held

To strengthen strategic collaboration between Daffodil Family and Finnish counterpart, a discussion meeting was held at 71 Milonayoton of Daffodil International University (DIU) today on Wednesday.

Nina Karki, project assistant, Unit for South Asia, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland; Birgit Nevala, programme director, Finnpartnership, Finnish Business, Partnership Programme and Patrik Bredbacka, programme officer, Finnpartnership, Finnish Business, Partnership Programme took part in the meeting on behalf of Finnish counterpart. On the other hand, Dr Md Sabur Khan, chairman of Daffodil Family; Professor Dr Yousuf Mahbubul Islam, vice chancellor (VC) of DIU; Professor Dr S M Mahbub Ul Majumder, pro VC; Professor Dr Engineer A K M Fazlul Haque, registrar; Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO of Daffodil Family and Iqbal Sharif, director, Bangladesh Finland Chamber of Commerce and Industries were present on behalf of Daffodil Family. Beside this Professor Dr Fokhrey Hossain, director, International Affairs of DIU, Deans of the Faculties and many high officials of DIU were also present at the meeting.

A brief presentation on Daffodil Family was given by Nafees Imtiaz Islam, deputy director (Research and IQAC), followed by a video documentary on Daffodil Family. The presentation focused on the activities of Daffodil Family and its attempts to explore cooperation areas like health management, environment, ICT, entrepreneurship. The delegates have discussed on socio-economic development of Bangladesh through education, trainings and services by following Nordic countries as models.

Birgit Nevala said that Bangladesh is a beautiful country and its people are also beautiful minded as well as energetic and hard working which helped rapid growing of the county’s economy. In the mean time she expressed her hope that Finland has lots of opportunity to invest here.

She also said that the activities of DIU are very amazing. This university is doing a lot on entrepreneurship, ICT, nutrition and many other sectors. She gave thanks to Daffodil Family and express hope that they can do business with Daffodil in future.

Dr Md Sabur Khan said to this speech that the main asset of this country is its huge population. Bangladesh is not a poor county but poorly managed country. So Bangladesh need proper manager like Finland. In the meantime he argued to the Finnish delegates to invest in Bangladesh.
