Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bangladesh Mansour Chavoshi paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal on Monday.
Chairman of DU Persian Language and Literature Department Dr. Md. Mumit Al Rashid, Prof. Dr. K M Saiful Islam Khan, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahim and Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alamwere present on this occasion.
At the meeting, they discussed various issues on mutual interests and the possibilities of strengthening the ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programmes among the University of Dhaka and different universities in Iran.
They stressed the need for exchanging of more visiting Professors, faculties, researchers and students among DU and Iranian universities.
They agreed in principle to boost academic and cultural cooperation and collaboration among DU and leading universities in Iran.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal said the friendly ties between the two countries will be further strengthened through holding webinar, workshop and seminar on different academic fields in the days to come. Exchange of teachers, researchers and students among DU and Iranian Universities will be arranged to enhance our mutual cooperation and collaboration, DU VC hoped.
Iranian Ambassador Mr. Mansour Chavoshi invited DU VC to pay a visit to Iran at the beginning of next year. He expressed his willingness to award scholarships to DU meritorious students and appoint more Iranian visiting Professors at Dhaka University.
