The central leaders of the ruling Awami League-backed Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have made a controversial leader president of its Noakhali Government College unit’s new committee, drawing huge criticism.
The BCL central command on Friday announced the name of the top leaders including President and General Secretary for the Noakhali Government College unit.
Among them, Abu Nayem Tanim was declared president of the college unit, but there were allegations against him of violating section 144 and practicing ‘unethical’ activities in the examination hall.Earlier on November 13, 2022, during a public examination, Abu Nayem Tanim along his fellows allegedly entered the examination hall violating law and misbehaved with a duty teacher.
A video of the incident went viral on social media and huge criticism arose.
Later, the college authority submitted a letter to the local police administration urging them to investigate the matter and take necessary initiatives.
Shikkhak Parishad Teachers' Association of the college issued an official statement protesting the incident. They expressed their concern and condemnation.
While asked about the allegations, Abu Nayem Tanim claimed himself innocent and told the Bangladesh Post that he went to the teacher's room to ask about the allegations raised by the teacher.
Abu Nayem Tanim refused the allegations of unethical activities at that time and stated the incident with the teacher as ‘misunderstanding’.“I am now a post-graduation-level student,” he added.
This correspondent tried to connect with the central leaders of BCL, President Saddam Hussein and General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan several times to get their comment but they were found unreachable.
