Control rooms to be opened in Chandpur

A decision was made to open control rooms in district and upazilas to control the law and order situation in Chandpur. The decision was made in a view exchange meeting held on Wednesday. 

The meeting was organized in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office with the participation of District Administration, Police Administration, Bangladesh Army and various political parties.

Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan's presided over the view exchange meeting. Lieutenant Colonel Takbir Abdullah, who is in-charge at Chandpur, spoke in the meeting.

Lieutenant Colonel Takbir Abdullah said “we have sat together to figure out how to get out of the current situation. We have to start our security work from the village level. I visited eight upazilas of the district. People leave when they see us and come back when we leave. After that we get calls about various incidents. But I can say that the situation of Chandpur is better than other districts. 

Everyone says we are showing sympathy towards the people. However, some people are now taking advantage of the situation.”

He also said that the proposals that came in today's meeting are excellent. They will implement it while maintaining their individuality. They will take action against the perpetrators. However, they will do it using their own method. They will be strict to everyone who will create problems. He said that they need to be sincere to protect the district. They will have to work more and talk less now. Those who will work in the district will go to the upazila. There will be no exemption for any offenders.

Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan said the opportunists have committed various violent crimes in the last two days. However, they want to ensure the safety of people. A lot of things came up through the discussion. Now they need control room for the work. The control room will be installed in the Upazila Nirabahi Officers’ offices. He said that they gave direction in every upazila to hold meetings like this. Representatives of political parties will be part of the control rooms as well. There will be an all-party monitoring committee as well.    

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Saiful Islam, District BNP President Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, District Jamaat Ameer Maulana Abdur Rahim, District BNP General Secretary Advocate Selim Ullah Selim, District President of Hefazt-e-Islam Maulana Liaquat, Islami Andolan Bangladesh Chandpur District Representative Md Zainul Abedin, Chandpur Press Club President Shahadat Hossain Shanto, Prothom Alo Chandpur Representative Alam Palash, District Coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Md Nadeem Patwari and others were present in the meeting.
