A seminar on Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009 was held at Barishal University's Jibanananda Das Conference Hall on Sunday at 11 am.
Professor Dr Sadequl Arefin VC of Barishal University was present as the chief guest at the function organized by the National Consumer Protection Department of Barishal Divisional Office. Advocate Hiron Kumar Das was present as special guest and Mohammad Selim, Deputy Director, National Consumer Rights Protection Department, Barisal Divisional Office was present as the President.
Shah Mohammad Shoaib Miah, Assistant Director, Department of Consumer Protection spoke at the beginning of the program. He said that all the citizens of our country are consumers.

He later gave a presentation on Consumer Rights Act among the students where he discussed the Consumer Rights and Consumer Protection Act 2009.

People did not know that there is a consumer rights law. So how to be aware? This is where the government has worked. Since the law has been made, the government has the will.
This law will accelerate as soon as we are aware of our place, moving forward. Therefore, we all need to be aware.
In his concluding remarks, Mr. Mohammad Selim, Deputy Director, National Consumer Protection Department, Barishal Divisional Office, said, “When you buy foreign cosmetics, you should buy a little. If there is a foreign brand, it is not a foreign product.
We are running various campaigns so that the marginalized people can also be aware. You become aware, if you become aware, Bangladesh will become a golden Bengal.
